Australian Work Visa Application
Work Visa Options
If you have made the choice to come to Australia, there are a few different visa options that you may be eligible for.
The skilled migration visa is available to overseas workers with skills that Australia needs. You may also be eligible for a sponsored or nominated work visa if you are sponsored by an approved Australian business or employer, or a state/territory government agency or authority. Your employer may sponsor you for either a permanent or temporary visa.
Skilled Migrant Visa Process
If you are applying for a skilled migration visa, you will first have to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect, the Department’s online system for handling the migration process. You must then meet the requirements for the visa subclass that you are applying for.
Once you submit this form, you can apply for a skilled migration visa within 60 days of your invitation. You must nominate an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list once you have been invited to apply. After you submit the application, a processing team will begin assessing it.
Sponsorship Visa Process
If your employer is recognised as an approved sponsor and you possess the relevant skills, your employer can apply for a Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa (between 1 day and 4 years). Your employer can also apply for workers to stay in the country on a permanent basis through the Employer Nomination Scheme.
There is also the option of the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa, which will allow a skilled worker to remain in Australia on a permanent basis and work in a regional area.
Each of these visas has a slightly different application process. Generally, you can apply for a working visa after your employer has been approved as a sponsor and lodges their application. You must provide all of the relevant documents to your sponsorship visa application. If you don’t already have an employer, you can trust Australian immigration consultants like us to help you find Australian companies offering visa sponsorship.
